Program Policies
36 Ways at The Westbrook Horse Farm provide youth riding lessons and the Junior HorseMasters programs to develop good character through horsemanship and mentoring with a focus on developing integrity, leadership, teamwork, confidence, and personal responsibility. Participation is a privilege and a commitment that requires respect and responsibility.
Our goal is to provide a safe, inclusive space for all.
The policies listed below are meant to ensure safety and a pleasant experience for participants, visitors, staff, and animals.
When participating in a program at Westbrook Farm, our expectation is that you have reviewed the Code of Conduct with your child, and have signed and returned all of the required forms either virtually or hard copy.

Code of Conduct
Section Subtitle
Student Expectations

Participants agree to:

Show respect for instructors, staff, fellow students, volunteers, and horses at all times.

Listen carefully and follow directions from instructors and staff.

Use good manners say “please,” “thank you,” and treat others kindly.

Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn and assist others.
-
Handle horses responsibly and safely as instructed.
-
Dress appropriately (boots with a heel, long pants, helmet).
-
Care for the barn and horses by cleaning up after themselves and completing assigned chores.

Refrain from inappropriate language, teasing, or bullying.
Parent Expectations

Parents/Guardians agree to:

Encourage good sportsmanship, respect, and patience.

Communicate respectfully with staff and instructors.
-
Ensure students arrive and are picked up on time.
-
Refrain from coaching or correcting students during lessons.
-
Discuss concerns privately and respectfully with staff or management.
-
Keep all payments current per Farm policy.
Attendance & Scheduling Policy

Lessons and program sessions are scheduled in advance.
-
Students must arrive on time and prepared to begin at the scheduled lesson start.
-
Late arrival may result in reduced lesson time.
-
24-hour notice is required for cancellations. Missed lessons without notice may not be rescheduled.

The Farm may adjust schedules due to weather, safety, or other circumstances.
Safety Policy

Safety of participants, staff, and horses is the top priority.

ASTM/SEI-approved helmets must be worn for all mounted activities.
-
Students must stay in designated areas and follow instructor directions.
-
No running, yelling, or rough play in or around the barn or arena.
-
We welcome your pets, however only approved dogs are permitted to be unleashed on the property. This is for the safety of our visitors and our barn cats.

Failure to follow safety or behavior rules may result in suspension or dismissal without refund.
Behavior & Dismissal Policy

Westbrook Farm reserves the right to remove any student or parent from the program if behavior:

Disrupts lessons

Disrespects staff or volunteers
-
Puts horses or humans at risk
-
Negatively impacts the experience of others
-
No refunds are issued for dismissal based on conduct.
